Of shame and money

Hatixhe and Shaban manage a small farm in rural Kosovo. They have three daughters and live in an extended family. As a result of their brother's betrayal, they lose their livelihood overnight.
All that remains is the way to the capital. In Pristina, Hatixhe's wealthy sister takes in the family. What looks like help turns out to be a silent humiliation.
“Everything has its place, including everyone,” explains the rich brother-in-law. It may be, but in order to find it, Hatixhe and Shaban first need an advance — for the daughter's tight shoes, for the mother's medication, which she would otherwise have to cut in half. Only then does the search for this place begin: in the nightclub, which they clean and are barely paid for it; on the workman's line, where Shaban offers himself as a day labourer; in the care of their father-in-law, who slowly dies to himself. This place is not easy to find. Perhaps as a security guard in a gated community?
OF SHAME AND MONEY shows that in a world in which money determines power, being human becomes the most expensive asset.
