It is difficult to find a band similar to Voo Voo, which for years has been synonymous with musical artistry, and at the same time still seeks and does not allow itself to fit into the rigid framework of genre divisions. However, it manifests itself most fully in concerts — it is live that the band shows its true nature, constantly improvising and reinterpreting their own songs, giving them new arrangements and meanings, thanks to which each performance becomes a unique, one-time encounter with music. Musical improvisation
combined with unpretentious fun with words and metaphors is not only a hallmark of the composition, but also a guarantee of a surprising, moving musical event.

About the event

Founded in 1985 by Wojciech Waglewski, the group has set new directions in Polish music since the beginning of its activity. In their work you can find inspiration from rock, folk, jazz or world music, and about its character in
largely determines the meeting of expressive personalities and outstanding musicians:
Wojciech Waglewski — guitar virtuoso open to both new and traditional sounds;

Mateusz Poalski — saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist and showman, a real volcano of energy on stage;
Karim Martusewicz — classically educated bassist and composer of film music;
and Michał Bryndal — a drummer of free jazz provenance. Their joint game is not so much a sum of talents as a living organism that breathes differently with each concert.

The band and its leader have collaborated with world-class artists such as Don Cherry, Andy Sheppard, Dave Douglas, Twinkle Brothers, Esperanza Spalding and Alim Qasimov. On the national stage he recorded and performed with, among others, Tomasz Stańka, Urszula Dudziak, Leszek Możdżer, Anna Maria Jopek, Katarzyna Nosowska, the Mazowsze Ensemble and the outstanding mezzo-soprano Małgorzata Walewska. The last few years have been a time of intense activity for Voo Voo.

The band is still touring, recording records and experimenting with new sounds. In 2025, the concert album “Wojciech Waglewski MTV Unplugged” was released, from which a concert film was also made, culminating in a tour in the best concert halls of the country. In addition to the Voo Voo band, it was attended by such outstanding guests as: Maciej Maleńczuk, Daria from Silesia, Dawid Tyszkowski or Fisz and Emade. The band also regularly performs in a more jazzy version at joint concerts with Leszek Możdżer. Their latest album, “Soundness,” released in 2026, is further proof that Voo Voo still has a lot to offer. Among the guests were Daria from Silesia, soprano Samitra Suwannarit and American rapper Antar Jackson. The album was well received by critics and audiences, proving that even after four decades on the stage, Voo Voo remains a band not so much mature as constantly maturing — in movement, in dialogue, in attentive listening to the world and to each other.
