Is it possible to travel the whole world in 80 days? Phlegmatic, extremely punctual English gentleman Phileas Fogg claims that yes and he is ready to bet a fortune on it! Together with his devoted but somewhat lost servant, Passepartout embarks on an adventurous journey, leading through exotic countries, dangerous situations and completely unpredictable encounters.
Based on the famous novel by Juliusz Verne, adapted by Robert Górski, the show is a dynamic, comedic story full of brilliant dialogues, surprising twists and characteristic humor. Colorful characters from different parts of the world stand in the way of the heroes, but the greatest threat is the determined Inspector Fix — a policeman who tramples on Fogg's heels, whose pursuit could lead to the loss of a great bet at any moment. In this fight against fate, every second counts and... time that is inexorably fleeing.
The whole performance impresses with its unique musical layer and energetic choreography. An important distinguishing feature of the show is the scenography, enriched with projections, animations and visual effects, which in an instant transfer the audience from London to India, from the ocean to the American wilderness. The changing images harmonize harmoniously with the stage action, music and movement, creating a show full of theatrical magic.
“Around the world in 80 days. There and Back” is a theatrical journey across continents without moving from the theatrical armchair. The show entertains, but also reminds that the real adventure begins where the routine ends and the world is best known by meeting people. This proposal is ideal for both younger viewers and accompanying adults, who appreciate intelligent humor, pace of action and a classic story told in a modern way. The show will be perfect both as a class outing and a family way to spend the afternoon.
Important information for educators and teachers:
The play “In 80 days around the world. There and Back” is a valuable complement to the implementation of the program base in Polish language, geography, knowledge about society, ethics and cultural education. The play is based on a novel by Jules Verne, which is not compulsory reading, but is sometimes used in schools as a supplementary reading or a text discussed fragmentarily, especially in the context of adventure and travel literature. Students have the opportunity to get acquainted with the theatrical adaptation of a classic literary work and analyze the differences between the literary text and its stage interpretation. The performance develops the skills of perception and interpretation of cultural texts, promotes conversations about the construction of the protagonist, narrative, time and space in a literary work. The theme of travel to different regions of the world allows students to broaden their knowledge of cultural diversity, customs and realities of life in other countries, as well as being a starting point for conversations about openness, tolerance, responsibility and the consequences of decisions made. The attitude of the main character promotes reflection on the importance of perseverance, systematicity, cooperation and keeping commitments. An important element of the performance is its multimedia form — modern scenography, projections and visual effects perform a narrative and educational function, supporting the understanding of the changing places of action. The show develops students' aesthetic sensitivity and shows how contemporary theatre can use multimedia to tell classical stories in an attractive and accessible way.
