The subject of the lecture will be the topos of Lithuania, covering both landscape and cultural tradition, present in the works of romantics — especially poets. An important element of the considerations will be the role of memory and mythologization of the past in creating the image of Lithuania as a “country of childhood years”. The lecture will consider the work of poets for whom Lithuania was a place of personal experience and a permanent reference point in their works, such as Władysław Syrokomla.
The lecture will be given by Prof. Dr. Małgorzata Łoboz.
The meeting will take place as part of the “Labas! Hello! — Days of Lithuanian culture in the library”.
