During the workshop we will look at the fascination of young Polish artists with folk art — its simplicity, rhythm and richness of ornament inspired by nature. We will see how the motifs known from folklore penetrated the painting and decorative arts of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
In the practical part, we will work with paper, creating our own compositions inspired by folk cutouts and Art Nouveau lines. We will focus on rhythm, repeatability, symmetry and building decorative form. It will be a space for experiments and exploring the connections between folk art and the painting of Young Poland.
