IN SUSPENSION is an intimate and at the same time dynamic theatre screening on the border between visual and physical theatre. It is a dramatic attempt to confront the taboo subject of oncological disease. It is a story of struggle, of the daily battles for dignity, of suffering and pain; of taming the inevitable, of enjoying the enchanted in the crumbs of our existence, of hope.

About the event

IN SUSPENSION is an intimate and at the same time dynamic theatre screening on the border between visual and physical theatre. It is a dramatic attempt to confront the taboo subject of oncological disease. It is a story of struggle, of the daily battles for dignity, of suffering and pain; of taming the inevitable, of enjoying the enchanted in the crumbs of our existence, of hope.

The play was inspired by Susan Sontag's essays “Disease as Metaphor” and Karl Jaspers' philosophy. The idea for the creation of the project “In suspension” was initiated by Marta Paradecka, at the moment when she experienced a borderline situation, which in Marta's case took the form of a disease. “The idea of dramatizing this situation is also an answer to other people's constant questions about how I feel during my illness.” The show is an epitaph for Martha.

“... because we do not know the day of our death, we treat life as an inexhaustible source, and yet everything happens only a certain number of times. How often do you remember your childhood afternoons? That which is so deep within you that you cannot imagine life without it, maybe four, five times, maybe even less, how many times you will see the full moon rise, maybe twenty, and yet life seems inexhaustible...”

The quote comes from the novel “Under the Cover of Heaven” by Paul Bowles.
