WAJDA KILAR ŚLĄSK is a performance in which the spirit of Andrzej Wajda meets the heart of Wojciech Kilar and the body of the Song and Dance Ensemble “Silesia”. From this connection is born the story of man and his journey — of what is born in silence, matures in motion and remains in memory as the world accelerates and we try to keep up with our own lives. This is not a film reconstruction. It is a reinterpretation of the emotions they carry — translated into the language of music, song and dance, into a rhythm that organizes, and into an image that reveals what cannot be expressed in words. The play takes the viewer through the stages of human experience: birth, closeness, community, crisis, self and journey. Each of these moments is different, necessary, unique, inevitable.

About the event

Meaning is born from music, singing and dancing. The performance leads the viewer along a path where the film gives meaning, the music arranges, and the body testifies. Andrzej Wajda — the soul of the project. His work is like an inner compass that points direction even when the road becomes dark. Wojciech Kilar — the heart of the concept. His music conveys emotions that do not need words. Team “Silesia” — body. It causes Wajda's soul and Kilar's heart to become paintings painted on stage. The show is not a collage of scenes. It is one continuous path of consciousness, in which images do not tell a story, but reveal states — as if a person passes through his own interior, recognizing in him traces of past choices, moments that have shaped his presence. It is a theater that does not explain, but allows us to see. A theatre that does not lead by the hand, but opens up a space in which everyone can find their own rhythm, their own meaning, their own question. Silence awaits at the end... A silence that does not close, but allows the most important to sound.

“WAJDA KILAR ŚLĄSK” is a journey that everyone takes on their own — a story about man's place in history, about his sensitivity, about the memory he carries on, and about what remains when the world falls silent for a moment. It's a show about us.

STAGE I - BREATHING THEN STEP

Man appears with the first breath. The world rocks it to its rhythm. Birth becomes the entrance to a community in which the first step responds to the presence of others.

Music: “Kościelec 1909”, “Kołysanka Żywiec” Wojciech Kilar

Choreography: Michail Zubkov

Ballet soloist: Kamil Podgórski, Choir soloist: Izabela Wojtasik

STAGE II - TIME BEGINS TO BEAT

Time appears suddenly, as if someone has exposed the hidden mechanism of the world. The ringing clocks make us realize that time is constantly flowing and will accompany man in his being.

“Wedding” directed by Andrzej Wajda — excerpt from the film

Music: Waltz from the film “The Leprechaun” by Wojciech Kilar

Choreography: Marcos de Lima

STAGE III - TOUCH OPENS CLOSENESS

Touch is the first experience of the presence of another person. It opens up a space of closeness where the relationship begins to exist truly.

“Chronicle of love accidents” directed by Andrzej Wajda - excerpt from the film

Music: “Kujawiaki Głuszyńskie”, “Owl in the Grove sits down” - Wojciech Kilar

Choreography: Hanna Chojnacka, Jarosław Świętek

Ballet soloists: Dominika Pyka, Emiliusz Tarnowski

Choir soloist: Elżbieta Przewoźnik

STAGE IV - NON-UNIT MODE

Effort creates the world, but it can turn people into a mechanism. In this tension, the question arises of the line between acting and losing oneself.

“Man of Marble”, “Promised Land” directed by Andrzej Wajda - fragments of films

Music: “Polonaise Powitalny”, “Fabryka”, “Orava” - Wojciech Kilar

Choreography: Jarosław Świętek, Juraj Kubanka

STAGE V - THE SELF, THE INNER SELF

It is a moment of confrontation with oneself. The question of identity does not have a single answer. Looking deep becomes the first step on the way forward.

Video presentation inspired by Andrzej Wajda's film “Nastazja”

Music: “Prelude” by Wojciech Kilar

STAGE VI - THE WAY OF LIFE

The road does not promise a goal. It is movement, tension, common march. Exodus becomes a collective experience. The journey itself becomes a form of hope.

“Smuga Cienia”, “Ash and Diamond”, “Without Anesthesia”, “Conductor”, “Brzezina” directed by Andrzej Wajda - excerpts from films

Music: “Exodus” by Wojciech Kilar

Soloists: Samira Bober, Magdalena Gorczyca, Tomasz Lis, Vadim Livanskyi, Grzegorz Lubos, Artur Mikulski, Miguel Oliveira, Maciej Pletnia, Kamil Podgórski, Dominika Pyka, Aleksandra Tadych

STAGE VII - SILENCE

Silence closes history and opens the space of memory. This is the place where the story ends, but its echo does not end.
