A classic of Polish cinema as part of the Wajda Re-visions series. An outstanding journalist and publicist loses everything from day to day — professional position, recognition and marriage. Andrzej Wajda's film is an insightful study of conformism, ruthless mechanisms of power and manipulation in the PRL, and at the same time a universal drama of the individual in confrontation with a soulless system.
