Organ music is certainly an important part of the instrumental work of Jan Sebastian Bach, where sophisticated polyphony intermingles with instrumental virtuosity. Concentration, contemplation, harmony, lyricism and drama unite the compositions of Polish artists — Mieczysław Surzyński, Felix Nowowiejski and Marian Sawa, who were also outstanding organists. The richness of colours, the monumentality of the sounds, the clarity of form and the sublimity of expression mark the work of Léon Boëllmann. The program of the concert marks a historical and geographical route from German Baroque music, through Polish works of the 19th and 20th centuries, to the French 19th century reference to Gothic. The guide on this path is the organs.

Waldemar Gawiejnowicz — organist, educator. As a soloist and chamber musician, he performs regularly in Poland and abroad, makes recordings and gives lectures on organ music and organ science. He is a graduate of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań in the organ class of Prof. Sławomir Kamiński, a doctor with a habilitation in musical arts, an assistant professor at this University.
