Wanożnicë | Danuta Baduszkowa Music Theatre in Gdynia

WANOŻNICË - diploma play about Kashubia on the centenary of the city of Gdynia directed by Katarzyna Szyngiera, director of the famous musical “1989”!

In the cast of the 4th year of the Danuta Baduszkowa Vocal and Acting Studio in Gdynia!

A group of students of the theater school after passing the exams goes to Kashubia for a tent to celebrate the beginning of the holiday. They set up camp, light a bonfire, go Mòry... What will the Kashubian ghosts and ghouls want to tell them? How will this unusual meeting end?

The musical performance is based on the songs of Ol Walicki, author of the albums “Kaszëbé” and “Kaszëbé II”. In these projects, the artist created a contemporary, full of emotions and contrasts vision of Kashubia — a region where tradition met irony and modernity. The works include texts in the Kashubian language by Damroka Kwidzinska, Dorota Masłowska and Tymon Tymański. Walicki's music combines jazz improvisation, rock energy and the poetic language of sounds.

WANOŻNICË means Wanderers in Kashubian. The show is a subjective and fragmentary story about Kashubia, in which the creators try to capture how the unique tradition and history of this region resonates with the reality of subsequent generations. Do the experiences of our ancestors influence us? And the past of the place where we live? How do young people, graduates of the Danuta Baduszkowa Vocal and Acting Studio see it today?

The play uses excerpts from the reportages “Kaszëbe” by Tomasz Słomczyński and “Welewetka” by Stasi Budzisz and a quote from the play “Children of Medea” directed by Milo Rau.

The producer of the show is the Baduszkowcy Association.
