“Warcholy” is a moving documentary film dedicated to the events of Radom June 1976. The creators present the drama of workers' protests against communist rule and their consequences, which for many participants continue to this day. The film shows the paradox of history: the fate of the embittered, often modestly living participants of the protest is juxtaposed with the situation of those responsible for its brutal suppression, who for years evaded responsibility and became part of the local elite. The production also shows lesser-known aspects of the events, as well as the grotesqueness of the propaganda rallies organized by the PRL authorities to condemn the workers' rebellion. An important plot of the film is the character of Fr Roman Kotlarz, who, after providing support to the protesters, was persecuted by Security Service officers. Through the accounts of witnesses and those who knew the priest, we learn the story of his courage, suffering and tragic death. “Warcholy” is not just a story about one of

An important plot of the film is the character of Fr Roman Kotlarz, who, after providing support to the protesters, was persecuted by Security Service officers. Through the accounts of witnesses and those who knew the priest, we learn the story of his courage, suffering and tragic death. “Warcholy” is not only a story about one of the most important social protests of the PRL period, but also a reflection on memory, justice and the consequences of events that left a lasting mark on the history of Poland. After the screening, we invite you to a meeting with the director of the film Sławomir Koehler and Dr. Paweł Sasanka from the Pilecki Institute, during which we will talk about the Radom June 1976, its place in the history of the PRL, the backstage of the creation of the film and the importance of these events for the birth of the democratic opposition. Admission is free. Tickets are now available at the box office of the Rialto Cinema. The number of seats is limited, so we encourage you to pick them up in advance. The remaining pool of tickets will also be available on the day of the event. “Warcholy” will be presented as part of the 3rd Poznań Film Review, which will take place on October 11, 2026 at the Rialto Cinema in Poznań.
