The performance, based on Beata Szada's reportage “Eternal Beginning. Warmia and Masuria”, goes back to real stories about people who are or were “from here”, as well as about those who come here as “mythical Varsovians” buying up lands.
The history of Warmia and Masuria is a difficult one, full of dramatic memories of leaving their homes, occupying other people's farms, hiding their origins and searching for roots.
It would seem that the burden of these destinies can be overwhelming, but the creators of the show resorted to a revue convention, in which there was even a place for a mini recital of a local song with popular melodies.
- The reports of Beata Szada are kept in a serious tone, and we make comedy in large parts. Comedy about our fate, because we are all from here, so we allow ourselves a lot of self-irony - says Marta Miłoszewska, author of the adaptation from Olsztyn, director of the play. And he adds: - It is customary to say that Olsztyn is Masuria. When we hear this, we immediately straighten up: Olsztyn is Warmia, it is insanely important. If someone wants to win the sympathy of Olsztyniaks, he just needs to know it. Although the real Warmians are actually gone. Today's inhabitants of the region are almost entirely an influx population or descendants of an influx population. We are constantly looking for our story, for self-determination. This is also a bit about our show.
It can be said that the show is a kind of field research on the identity of the Warmians and Masurians, in which we will find everything important, shown by a pleiad of colorful characters.
In the program of the play we publish a conversation between Jacek Wakar and the director of the play Marta Miłoszewska.
