About the event

We invite you to an extraordinary evening, during which the Blue Note will turn into an elegant, lively living room native to the interwar twenties. The Warsaw Sentimental Orchestra will perform on our stage — a band that brings back to life the most beautiful melodies of the past era with extraordinary grace and respect.

The Warsaw Sentimental Orchestra debuted in 2015 at the Polish Radio Folk Festival “New Tradition” and has since established itself on the national music scene.

During the concert we will hear works taken from the rich phonographic output of the band. The artists will take us into the world of touching waltzes, passionate tangs, thrilling foxtrots, rumbs and slow-foxes. It is a musical journey to the times when Adolf Dymsza, Eugeniusz Bodo, Hanka Ordonówna or Mieczysław Fogg reigned on the stage and screens, and the lyrics and music were created by outstanding creators such as Julian Tuwim, Marian Hemar, Henryk Wars or the Gold brothers.

“The songs are performed while preserving the style and timeless charm of these melodies and adding a touch of contemporary musical sensibility” — Polskie Radio Program II

It will be a real dance time machine! Musicians capture the heart with traditional arrangements of forgotten schlagers and original compositions, proving that retro music is perfectly found in 21st century Poland. Whether you get carried away to dance to the rhythm of the songs from the albums “Umówmy się na hoy” and “Tańcz moj złoty”, or you will be carried away by reflections on the everyday life of the soldiers from the album “Płyń Wisełko”, this evening will remain in your memory for a long time.

Band composition: Gabriela Mościcka — vocals, accordion Lena Nowak — clarinet, singing Kazimierz Nitkiewicz — trumpet, flugelhorn, vocals Jakub Fedak — vibraphone, xylorimba Krzysztof Baranowski — guitar, mandolin Łukasz Owczynnikow — double bass, vocals Mateusz Kowalski — percussionals
