Warsaw espresso. Gray Ranks from the beginning

Gray Szeregi is a name familiar to all of us from an early age. When we hear it, we think first of all - the scouts and scouts of wartime; young heroines and heroes. Some of us may also know someone who has been in the Grey Ranks and that name has a human, concrete face. But do we know what their path to service in the Polish Scout Union looked like in the underground? And what did the structure of the Gray Ranks look like?

We invite you to the workshops, during which we will find out how the recruitment of new members of the organization looked like, we will get acquainted with the content of the pledge and learn about the activities of scouts during the Second World War. They will be led by Julian Borkowski, a specialist in the subject.

Julian Borkowski - historian, graduate of the Historical Institute of the University of Warsaw, curator of the Warsaw Research Department. He deals with the history of Warsaw in the 20th century, his interests include: anti-Nazi propaganda as part of the “N” campaign, the history of Warsaw scouting with special emphasis on the period of occupation and the Warsaw Uprising, the history of the Warsaw metro. Co-author of exhibitions on Warsaw themes, author and co-author of articles and publications. Awarded the “Pro Patria” medal.
