About the event

The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw invites you to creative workshops for adults that accompany the exhibition “Sculpture after stability”.

What if the portrait of a man did not show his appearance, but what shaped him? Let's imagine a person as an abstract, soft sculpture made of fresh clay: everything that she touched and leaned against leaves an imprint on her. What are the footprints and prints? We will try to answer this question during our meeting.

What are we gonna do?

We will start by looking for inspiration in the works of artists from the exhibition “Sculpture after stability”. We take a look at the work of Kaari Upson, who combined the casts of a tree that grows next to her family home with the prints of her own knees. We will see how Nicole Wermers and Ken Sortais transform the footprint of old sculptures into something completely new. We will also look through the transparent sculpture of Gizela Mickiewicz and try to read the impressions of specific meetings, situations and experiences.

In the practical part, we will create our own bas-reliefs, in which we will write in an abstract way the traces of our own or someone else's biography. On flat clay molds, we will imprint different materials and objects so that an artistic record of what we associate with a particular person is created.

FLOWER

The Museum of the Sacred Mystery in Warsaw will ask the creators of master classes for adults who will accompany the exhibition “Sculpture of stability”.

And what, if a portrait of the people showed not his consciousness, but what he formed? It seems to a person as abstract, like a sculpture in the world of clay: an ear whose sound is bubbling and spiraling into, is reflected in its slide. How are you going to hear her fights? On this question, we will try to show our mixer for five hours.

What are we going to do, slaves?

Let's start with the study of inspiration in the robots of mystics and mitzives from the series “Sculpture of animal stability”. Let's go to the artist Kaari Apson, who sits on a piece of wood growing up near her native home, from the battles of the family. It is forgivable that Nicole Vermers and Ken Sorte recreate large sculptures of what we call women. We can explore the window of the sculpture of Gizela Mitzkevich and try to see the images of specific objects, situations and realities.

In the practical part, I create hair reliefs, in which in an abstract way we can write down the hair or whose biography. On the plates of clay forms, various materials and objects are imprinted, as soon as a mysterious record of what is associated in our country with a particular person is revealed.
