Painting workshops

The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw invites you to painting classes, during which we will learn the basics of creating yolk tempera and prepare our own paint ourselves!

At the beginning of the meeting, we will look at old artistic techniques, which artists use much less often today, and which have overtaken the acrylic or oil paints popular nowadays. To look for inspiration, we will carefully look at one of the works in the exhibition “The Roads of the Blacks Enter the White Land”. We will consider together how the impressions we receive through the different senses can affect what we choose to show in the image.

After visiting the exhibition, we will return to the education room, where we will first create loose sketches. Next, step by step, we will learn how to prepare a classic tempera paint, which consists entirely of pigment, water and chicken yolk. Finally, together we will use a new technique in practice — using the paint that we have just created ourselves, we will paint unique images on canvas or paper.
