Design workshop “Maps in Illustration”

Maps in illustration are a combination of cartography with visual art. During the workshop we will be inspired by maps of fictional lands that complemented the narration of various literary works, and we will create compositions showing the topography of the worlds captured in the prepared fragments of texts. We will talk about the necessary elements of maps and graphic ways of presenting them. We will consider whether the map is just a tool for orientation in space, or whether it can be a story, a record of emotions, memories, sounds and smells. We will draw our projects traditionally with ink, using nibs, on tea-tinted sheets.
