Performative walk led by Stefania Gardecka
Stage I
The host, Stefania Gardecka, will be waiting for the participants of the Wędrówka before entering the Laboratory Theatre at the Iron Crossing at 17:00
The participants will go inside and then take the stairs to the top floor of the building — to the former secretariat of the Laboratory Theatre, operating in 1966, a dressing room for foreign trainees and the office of Jerzy Grotowski.
A floor below, Stefania Gardeck will invite participants to the actors' dressing room, and then to the theater hall. In the special atmosphere of these interiors, it will evoke interesting stories, among others related to the creation of the famous plays — “The Unbreakable Prince” and “Apocalypss cum Figuris”.
On the first floor, in the exercise room, Ludwik Flaszen conducted his “Meditations out loud”. It also housed the reception of the Góra Enterprise (1977), later the reading room of the Grotowski Center, and now houses the office of the Grotowski Institute.
Then the Wanderers under the direction of Stefania Gardecka will go to the ground floor, where in 1969 the new secretariat of the Theatre and the office of its head, as well as administrative, technical and social facilities, began to operate. There are many anecdotes associated with these places.
At the end of the first stage of Journey 1, participants will discover in the Laboratory Theatre something really hidden and inaccessible to the “curious” on a daily basis — the kingdom of Czesław Szark. What is hidden under this mysterious name? The mystery will be solved exclusively by Stefania Gardeck.
II stage
Wanderers will go to another part of the building — the former premises of the Carbonated Water Plant. It was there that Jacek Zmysłowski met with people collaborating on his project “Czyvania”. In 1980, it temporarily housed the office of the Teatr Spółki in Brzezinka.
The other rooms in this part served both office and “less official” functions — they were used, for example, for Jerzy Grotowski's leisure. There was also a large exercise room where Stanisław Ścierski worked (now the Flaszen Reading Room).
III stage
Then the Wanderers will head to the Market Square — to the Club of Creative Unions, which focused the life of the city's artistic community, also in its entertainment dimension. Right next door, they will visit the editorial office of the monthly “Odra”, on whose pages Grotowski published his texts.
Another on the route is the Op Enheim Gallery at Plac Solny. Czesław Szarek had an apartment there; Grotowski used to live there, as well as many other people who came “to the Czech Republic to say something and eat”. How many stories and anecdotes are hidden in those walls...
In the charming spaces of Wrocław tenement houses, Wędrówka 1. will come to an end.
