A special order of the Baltic Opera is creating a unique work — an opera, the libretto of which is based on Paweł Huelle's Weiser Dawidek, one of the most important novels of contemporary Polish literature. It is a story about memory, maturation and mystery, set in the extraordinary landscape of Gdańsk. The premiere will combine Huelli's literary poetics with the language of contemporary opera, inviting viewers to a world where reality is constantly intertwined with legend.
The music for the performance is composed by Ewa Fabiańska-Jelińska, the libretto is prepared by Anna Czekanowicz, and the director is Romuald Wicza-Pokojski.
Attention! On Saturday 17 October there will also be a public consultation on the construction of the new Baltic Opera. There will be a MOBILE CONSULTATION POINT in the foyer of the Opera House on that day. This is a short but important opportunity to hear the voice of the people who use this place every day and will use it in the future.
OPERA CHAT — October 25, 2026
Half an hour before the performance, we invite you to a lecture by Jerzy Snakowski, who will briefly present the work and indicate possible paths of interpretation, while sharing curiosities and anecdotes related to the title. During the break on the monitors in the foyer you will be able to catch a glimpse of what is happening behind the scenes during the intermission. And after the performance, Jerzy Snakowski will be waiting in the foyer for those who will want to warmly share their reflections, emotions or doubts. Admission to Opera Chat for viewers who have a ticket to the show on October 25, 2026.
