The Lost Paradise exhibition addresses an important theme of the relationship between man and the environment in the context of contemporary ecological crises. The artist focuses on mechanisms of power, both those visible in global politics and those almost imperceptible, which are forms of human domination over space and natural resources. The concept of power is an issue constantly recurring in Nowakowski's creative practice, which becomes a tool for diagnosing the condition of modern civilization.

The works presented at the exhibition show the consequences of human interference

into the environment, ranging from global processes of environmental degradation, to individual, almost invisible acts of appropriation of nature. In this perspective, modern ecological crises become a signal of imbalance, which leads to a sustained increase in greenhouse gas emissions, environmental degradation and, ultimately, to the destabilization of ecosystems.

The artist formulates a question about the perspective of continuing to maintain the illusion of stability.

Does development based on the logic of exploitation still allow us to talk about a future that will not be just a derivative of lost opportunities?

The exhibition is realized as part of the award of the State Art Gallery in Sopot

in the Competition of the Best Diplomas of the Academy of Fine Arts 2023 in Gdańsk.
