In his new exhibition “Hungry Trees” Przemek Branas takes to the workshop eucalyptus - an invasive plant that is not lacking in Portugal, where he lives. For the artist, it becomes the starting point for a story about monoculture, exploitation and what happens when one genre begins to dominate the whole environment.
Eucalyptus leaves here become the material for building spatial installations resembling a forest wall. Importantly, this material is acquired and prepared by the artist himself - he collects leaves and waste after cutting, and then independently sews them on a machine, creating extensive, large-format forms from them. The exhibition affects not only the sight, but also the sense of smell - thanks to the author's fragrance created from plant extracts.
