On Thursday, 22 October at 17.00, we invite you to the opening of the exhibition of works by the Ozorkow artist — Roman Wrześkiewicz, zat. “Emotional coloring”
“Emotional Colouring” is an exhibition of pastels and oil paintings by Roman Wrześkiewicz, dedicated to landscape and its emotional impact. The artist draws inspiration from nature, observing its light, colors, rhythm and variability. In his works, nature becomes not only a subject, but also a space for personal feelings and moods. The delicacy of the pastel allows you to capture fleeting moments — the light before the storm, the silence of the landscape, the warmth of the setting sun or the melancholy of autumn days. It is a painting in which the landscape is filtered through the emotions of the artist and invites the viewer to his own, very personal journey.
Roman Wrześkiewicz — Polish artist painter, pastel artist and graphic artist, specializing in dry pastel technique. He lives and works in Ozorków near Łódź. He graduated from the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Łódź (currently the Władysław Strzeminski Academy of Fine Arts), where he studied graphics and painting, and the Higher School of Humanities and Economics in Łódź, where he studied computer graphic design.
For years he has consistently developed his own artistic language, occupying a special place in the dry pastel technique. He mainly creates landscapes, portraits, still lifes and abstractions, also reaching for oil and acrylic painting and drawing. In his work, color, light, texture and the directness of the gesture play an important role. The artist treats pastel not only as a technique, but as a full-fledged painting language allowing to build moody, multi-layered images.
His works have been presented at dozens of individual and collective exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including in Germany, Sweden, Liechtenstein and Armenia. The artist's works are in private collections in Poland and abroad, and one of his paintings, Like a scarf chamotte with the wind..., is in the collections of the Museum of the City of Zgierz.
An important area of his activity is the popularization of art, art education and animation of cultural life. In 2023, he founded PASTEL ART National Association of Pastelists, whose activities are focused on the promotion of pastel art, support of artists, organizing exhibitions, workshops, competitions and artistic projects.
As a representative of PASTEL ART Roman Wrześkiewicz in 2023-2025 organized about 15 individual exhibitions of artists from Poland and abroad in the Zgierski and Łódź districts, as well as several collective exhibitions presented in the Zgierz district, as well as in Kazimierz Dolny, Zamość, Zgierz and Krakow. He also acted as a curator, responsible for the concept and organization of events and their artistic presentation. During the vernissages organized by him, he regularly speaks, introducing the audience to the silhouettes of the artists, their work and the context of the presented works.
Its organizing activities also have an international dimension. In January 2024, he co-organized in Berlin a collective exhibition of artists from the district of Zgierski and other regions of Poland, presenting the work of Polish artists outside the country. In November 2025, he also realized an international educational and artistic project in Armenia — at the Mher Abeghian Museum in Yerevan, a branch of the National Museum of Armenia. As part of the project, an international competition for young talents from Ozorkovo was organized. The works of the students of the First General High School in Ozorków and the Primary School No. 2 in Ozorków were evaluated by an international jury, selecting and rewarding the best projects.
Another important project was an international project implemented in October 2026 in Berlin in cooperation with SprachCafé Polnisch. As part of the event, the artist organized a collective exhibition entitled “Bridges of Memory” which presented the works of 17 artists from the district of Zgierski, other regions of Poland, Germany, France and Sweden, as well as the works of young talents from Ozorków. The project has become a meeting place for artists of different generations and backgrounds and an example of the use of art as a language of dialogue across borders.
Roman Wrześkiewicz is also an author and executor of artistic and educational projects, for which he obtained public and grant funding. Among the projects realized were “The Beauty of the Zgierski District in Drawing and Painting”, “The Evolution of Pastel in the 19th and 20th Centuries”, the project “Ozorków — a local story about Józef Piłsudski” and the project “So that she does not go into oblivion — the history of Primary School No. 2 in Ozorków”. Each of these projects was accompanied by the publication of a publication dedicated to local art or history, the graphic elaboration of which was prepared by the artist. All these publications are available at the National Library in Warsaw, the Voivodship Library in Łódź, the County Library in Zgierz and the Municipal Library in Ozorków.
An important part of his business is also applied graphics and design. Roman Wrześkiewicz has been designing the covers of TALENTS MAGAZINE POLAND on the culture, art and history of the Łódź region since 2024 and is responsible for the graphic development and preparation of the magazine for printing. He is also the author of posters for most artistic events, exhibitions and projects, often including projects of which he is the organizer or co-organizer. In this way, it combines the experience of the artist, graphic artist and cultural organizer, taking care not only of the artistic level of the events, but also of their visual identification.
A special place in his activity is occupied by working with young talents. The artist organizes outdoor activities, workshops, competitions and exhibitions for children and young people, and then enables the presentation of their works also outside Poland. In October 2026, he organized an exhibition of young talents from the First General High School in Ozorków, prepared on the occasion of the school's jubilee. It presents the works of students and graduates of the school created during outdoor events and art workshops. These activities are part of its broader mission to support the young generation of creators and build their first professional presentation space.
Roman Wrześkiewicz also conducts art workshops, outdoor events and meetings dedicated to the art and technique of dry pastel, aimed at children, youth, adults and seniors. His educational activity is particularly linked to the idea of opening art to people who have limited access to professional art education on a daily basis.
In January 2024, he was awarded the title of Ambassador of the Powiat Zgierski, and through his activities he consistently promotes the culture, artists and heritage of the Łódź region both in Poland and abroad. In November 2026, there will be an exhibition entitled “Materia Recoverana w Sztuce”, under the patronage of the Starost of the Zgierski County. The exhibition will present the works of artists who use non-standard creative techniques and biodegradable materials.
The exhibition is organized by Roman Wrześkiewicz in cooperation with the Powiat Zgierski, with the support of patrons and project partners. The project aims not only to present a variety of artistic attitudes, but also to draw attention to the possibilities of creative use of materials that in the traditional approach remain outside the field of art.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a bilingual catalogue documenting the project and the works presented. The first part of the exhibition will be presented in the district of Zgierski, and then the project is planned to be presented outside Poland, as an example of a contemporary approach to art, matter and the idea of creative processing.
The activity of Roman Wrześkiewicz can be seen today on several intersecting planes: artist, pastel artist, graphic artist, curator, educator, organizer of cultural events and animator of international cooperation. It does not limit itself to creating its own paintings — it also builds a space where other artists can be noticed and young artists get their first chance.
She treats art as a language of encounter and dialogue — between man and nature, artist and recipient, young artist and experienced artist, as well as between different cultures and environments. Of particular importance to him is his roots in the Łódź region and the conviction that even outside the largest cultural centres it is possible to create a valuable, ambitious and open artistic life.
