Opening of Rita Kowalska's exhibition entitled “Afterview”

The director of the Museum of Biłgoraj Land in Biłgoraj invites you to the opening of Rita Kowalska's exhibition entitled “Afterview”, which will be held on October 23 at 17:00 in the Museum of Biłgoraj Land in Biłgoraj.

Rita Kowalska comes from Lublin and is a visual artist by education. She presented her works, among others, at the Lublin Conference Centre, at the Art Gallery of the Association of Polish Plastic Artists in Rzeszów and at the Medina Art Gallery in Rome. Since 2025, her works can also be seen in Kamienica Legend in Lublin, where they are presented at a permanent exhibition surrounded by the historic walls of a tenement house in the Old Town.

In the Museum of Biłgoraj Land in Biłgoraj we will see works from three cycles of the artist: The Shape of Tomorrow, Going Out to Tomorrow and Reflections of Oblivion. The exhibition will be an opportunity to trace her artistic path and meet the next stages of her painterly exploration.

Rita uses expressive painting language and fragmentary figuration to create a surreal world on the borderline of dream, memory and imagination. With the help of light, color and painting matter, he builds an atmosphere of mystery and mysticism. Her images intersect with the world of sleep and imagination, evoking both traces of what has passed and premonitions of what may yet happen. In the dynamically applied layers of painting are hidden meanings and emotions that cannot be clearly read.

Rita Kowalska creates a world that we cannot unambiguously attribute to reality. Are we looking at our thoughts, dreams, or maybe memories?

We invite you on October 23 at 17:00 to the opening of the exhibition and a meeting with Rita Kowalska.
