Stanisław Wyspiański's “Wedding”, although written more than 100 years ago, does not cease to amaze with the actuality of the diagnoses that the “fourth messenger” made to the national community. After all, it is an endless story of the dream of solidarity that collides with the inability to act together. A story about a divided reality, haunted again and again by shadows brought by the wind of history.
In the wedding hut, worlds meet, which for a moment I try to merge into one: intelligence and peasants, dream and reality, past and present, memory and oblivion. Today, when thinking through the prism of borders and conflicts has become a daily routine not only of Poland, but of the whole world, are we able to hear what the unexpected guests of this evening are talking about? Justyna Łagowska's staging asks the question of whether we can perceive history when it is happening here and now. And if so, what do we do about it?
The performance is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund.
The task is co-financed from the budget of the Municipality of Rzeszów.
