This time we cordially invite you to the Krzysztofora Palace, where we will recall the history of the Grunwald Monument. Located on Matejki Square, the Grunwald Monument is an important place on the contemporary map of Krakow. Its founder was the famous pianist and composer Ignacy Jan Paderewski, and the creator was sculptor Antoni Wiwulski. The monument was unveiled on July 15, 1910, on the 500th anniversary of the victory of the Polish-Lithuanian troops under Grunwald led by King Władysław Jagiełła. Unfortunately, the monument has not survived to our times because it was demolished during the Second World War. Reconstructed by Prof. Marian Konieczny, it was reopened on October 16, 1976 — which was immortalized on film. Exactly on the 50th anniversary of the reconstruction of the monument, we invite you to watch this archival recording and listen to the story of one of the main symbols of Krakow.
