Artbooks and sketchbooks are much more than collections of illustrations or sketchbooks full of initial ideas. They are autonomous works of art where story, visual experiment and personal narrative come together. Instead of presenting only the finished effect, they reveal the creative process — they allow us to look into the world of inspiration, trials, intuition and search of the artist.

The sketchbook becomes a space for free experimentation, where every improvisation and every trace of the process contribute to the final character of the work. On the other hand, artbooks transcend the boundaries of traditional publishing, using author's techniques, non-obvious materials, manual execution or non-linear ways of telling stories. They can take the form of intimate zines, unique art books or objects balancing on the border between a book and a work of art.

During the workshop with Anna Rabbit, participants will learn about artbooks and sketchbooks as tools of creative expression and discover how books can become an independent artistic medium — a place for experimentation, storytelling and building their own visual language.

The workshops will be conducted in parallel in Polish and English.

For whom: adolescents and adultsDuration: 120 min.Cost: 20 zł

***

Art books and sketchbooks are more than just collections of images or preliminary drawings — they are independent art forms that blend storytelling, visual experimentation, and personal expression. As a traditional exhibition or framed work, these books offer an intimate, tactile experience, inviting viewers to engage with an artist's creative process, thoughts, and evolving ideas.

Artists use sketchbooks as spaces for exploration, where experimentation, improvisation, and even mistakes become integral parts of the creative journey. Likewise, art books challenge conventional publishing formats by incorporating handmade elements, unconventional materials, and nonlinear narratives. From limited-edition zines to intricately bound artist books, this unique form of artistic expression blurs the boundaries between literature and visual art, creating deeply personal and immersive works.

During the workshop with Anna, participants will explore art books and sketchbooks as creative tools and independent artistic media. Through hands-on experimentation, they will discover how a book can become a space for storytelling, visual exploration, and the development of a personal artistic language.

A workshop will be conducted simultaneously in Polish and English.
