Eternal rodeo

The subject of the “Eternal Rodeo” is bodies, voices, momentum and effort. Drawing on the logic of a sporting spectacle, concert and circus, the performers subject their bodies to tasks that trigger the flow of intensity between them and the audience. Emotions become a task, a competition, but also a common event. They pass from body to body, relaxing the need for interpretation and leaving the viewer primarily in the experience.

What happens when emotions cease to be private and become shared? When the body balances between the propulsive and animalistic and the metaphysical; between what is experienced and what is revealed — also in front of itself? Once we try to stay on the back of our own nature, other times we let ourselves be carried away by it. The effort to maintain balance becomes at the same time an attempt to find harmony with something greater than individual experience.

“In the course of my work, I focus primarily on what experience viewers want to have and how to achieve it. My works are not performances or performances, rather events taking place here and now, their task is to interact intensely, not to tell a story. I build situations where people can skip the theatrical convention and really see each other — enter into energetic, lively interactions with each other. Therefore, each of my works is to some extent a story about the meeting itself, and it was the same in the Pantomime theater.” — Anna Karasińska
