About the event

A great man, cunning, intriguing, full of genius and ideas beyond his own capabilities, this is who Ambrozy Jenialkiewicz sees in the mirror.

Does this image coincide with what the watchful viewer will perceive? This is a story in which the world was constructed by great men for persevering people.

“Big man for small business” is a comedy about a world full of appearances.

How far can a delusion take you and how long can you believe in it? The show is a perfect combination of intelligent humor and a deep analysis of the mechanisms that drive relationships in society, which makes it attractive to viewers seeking content with a valuable and profound message.

“Big Man for Small Business” directed by Anna Wieczur is a contemporary interpretation of Alexander Fredra's comedy from 1854. The idea is for the spectator to leave the theater with an experience of catharsis through laughter, but also with a reflection on human nature. The viewer has the opportunity to see the psychological aspects and the varied motivations that guide the characters. The topics discussed, such as the desire for success or the persistent pursuit of established goals, seem to be extremely topical. The timelessness presented by Aleksander Fredra is further emphasized by the contrasting combination of scenography and costumes. The concept of the performance assumes combining elements of the 19th century world with those that are familiar to us from today.

Anna Wieczur gave the familiar story a lightness, enhancing its humorous layer while preserving space for in-depth reflection. The viewer has the opportunity to smoothly immerse himself in the world created by the author, interpreted by the director and brought to life by the actor. Using evocative scenography, music and light, “The Big Man for Small Business” transports the viewer into a world of supreme emotions and internal conflicts, leaving him with a deep impression and questions that accompany him even after the performance ends.

The performance is highly appreciated by those who appreciate the classics of literature and theater, the richness of humor and intelligent comedic procedures.

The play took part in the 10th Competition for the Staging of Old Works of Polish and European Literature “Living Classics”.
