The chefs of the Great Kitchen invite you to the celebration of the Great Cake. This is an extraordinary event because it takes place only once every 24 years! When guests arrive to celebrate, it turns out that the baking is not ready. The Big Cake is a culinary and magical spectacle telling the adventurous story of a young Kowalczyk. One creative director, two talented actors, several “kitchen dolls”, a handful of imagination, a spoonful of mystery and a pinch of good humor - this is the recipe for a delicious theatrical fun seasoned with a hint of reflection.

Piotr Srebrowski's imaginative puppet-actor directorial debut was awarded Galion 2014, the artistic award of the President of Gdynia.

We pamper the young spectator in the theater!

February 1, 2014 is a hugely important date in the history of the Gdynia Główna Theatre. It was then that the first premiere in our five-year history took place. We started unusually — with Piotr Srebrowski's play for children “The Big Cake” inspired by J. R.R. Tolkien's story “The Blacksmith from Podlesia Wielki”. This culinary and magical spectacle, telling the adventurous story of the young Kowalczyk, quickly delighted the youngest viewers, was appreciated by theater critics and won its loyal fans. To this day, the joint cooking of the Great Cake has been presented more than 100 times (also in the outdoor edition and throughout Poland), which has made this spectacle the most staged in our history.

After the performance, we invite you to a unique educational workshop that creatively develops the themes touched on the stage. In the price of the ticket we offer 30 minutes of inspiring fun with our educators.
