Next Saturday, October 17, we invite you to the Kina Wolność in Szczecinek for the next episode of the Met Opera series. This time on the big screen we will see “Macbeth” by Giuseppe Verdi, a gripping opera inspired by William Shakespeare's timeless drama, in which lust for power, pernicious ambition and remorse lead to inevitable tragedy.
In the center of the story is a couple who at all costs want to win the royal crown. Baritone Quinn Kelsey portrays Macbeth, a Scottish ruler haunted by the ghosts of murdered victims. He stars soprano Lise Davidsen as Lady Macbeth, a ruthless and ambitious woman whose thirst for power drives the heroes to perdition.
Louisa Proske is in charge of the staging, and the Metropolitan Opera is conducted by the musical director of the theater, Yannick Nézet-Séguin. The star cast is completed by tenor Freddie De Tommaso as Makduf and bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green as Banka.
Verdi's “Macbeth” is a dramatically tense tale in which monumental music meets a dark story of power, betrayal and the price to pay for one's own ambitions. This is a proposal for lovers of the great opera and all those who want to experience a classic work in a unique performance by the artists of the Metropolitan Opera.
