“The Great Beauty” is a visually stunning, contemplative journey through Rome and the life of the film's main character, Jep Gambardelli, an aging journalist and writer who, after years of hedonistic life, begins to reckon with his past.
Famous for his ironic distance and for being a regular at elite parties, Jep drifts through the world of the Italian upper class with apparent calm. Yet beneath the surface of glitz, conversations about art and philosophy lies a deep longing for authentic beauty and spiritual fulfillment.
