Residents of the quiet coastal town of Hope are cut off from the world by deadly wildfires that are devouring the surrounding forests. The police receive numerous reports of unusual activity of predatory animals that begin to attack people. It soon turns out that these dramatic events are a harbinger of something much worse. People begin to die under more and more drastic circumstances, and it soon becomes clear that Hope has become the target of an attack by mysterious creatures that do not resemble either humans or animals. Where do they come from, what are their intentions, and is Hope just part of some larger plan? Two local police officers are trying to find answers to these questions. In order to do this, they must first survive.
