We take you on a journey back to 1933, when the vaudeville theatre “Valhalla Palace” was operating in the provincial town of Liegnitz. It works with difficulty, because the repertoire rattles the mouse, the audience does not add, and the box office is empty. One day, the stars of the Berlin cabaret appear in this decaying shrine, quite unexpectedly, as if it were an eruption of a volcano. In the thicket of ambition, pretense and mischief, mysterious and disturbing things begin to happen. In addition, everyday life is becoming increasingly dark — the Nazi revolution is knocking on the door...
In the ghastly funny, and at times acutely frightening, played with the reproach that sparks fly in Lukasz Chuy's musical [...] the authorities want to close the theater, the world turns brown, the alleged friends may turn out to be traitors. The fun is at the fest, only the performance is dangerously close to reality. [...] The seventeen-member ensemble of actresses and actors can stir up all this noise, aided by Paulina Andrzejewska-Damięcka's excellent choreography and the powerful music of Marcin Partyka, which is perhaps the most elaborate in his oeuvre. Michał Chński did what he is incomparable in, that is, he combined humor with sharpness and delicacy in the lyrics into a strange unity, in addition, together with Partyka, he made “Wodewilu Liegnitz”, as befits a decent musical, come out humming memorized pieces under the nose. They are in a powerful show of hits with their mouths full. When the album with the songs from the show comes out in better times, I'll be the first to run to buy it.
