Wojtek Mazolewski Solo

The album “Solo” by Pink Freud and Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet is an intimate, extremely moody, almost cinematic story without words — a moving story about the artist's relationship with his instrument.

The double bass in jazz has remained underrated over the years. Since the days of Duke Ellington's big band, it has been primarily attributed to the role of a rhythmic foundation for the performances of trumpeters, pianists and drummers. So one could assume that the solo album will become for Mazolewski an opportunity for virtuoso demonstrations. However, the artist chooses a completely different path.

On “Solo” the double bass becomes a full-fledged melodic instrument. Mazolewski, with extraordinary attentiveness — not to mention tenderness — brings out the richness of his colours and the depth of his sound, proving how many emotions a single sound can convey.

We invite you to experience it on your own skin (and ears).

Guests will join Wojtek during two concerts in Jassmine — announcement soon!
