We invite you to a meeting with Fr. Jan Nieciecki, which will be led by Joanna Tomalska.
In 2026, a painting by Jean Louis Tocquė (1696-1772) “Portrait of Isabela Branicka”, 18th century, oil, canvas, oval, 66 x 56 cm, floated on the French art market. It was purchased by one of the Polish antique dealers. This is an exceptionally beautiful portrait of a representative character, framed in an oval frame with rich stucco.
The meeting is an excellent opportunity to remember Izabella Branicka, this unusual figure for the people of Białystok. She was the sister of the last king of Poland Stanisław Poniatowski, and after the death of her husband Hetman Jan Klemens for almost thirty years, independently managing the city, she made herself known as a patron of culture and art, took care of the health and education of the inhabitants of Białystok. This portrait is also noteworthy because we do not have many images of the last owners and benefactors of our city
