The protagonist of the film is a mature, liberated woman — a thief, a lover and an unfulfilled writer. To make ends meet, Goliarda (Valeria Golino) is able to risk a lot. When he finally ends up in prison, he befriends women younger than him. After being released, in the middle of a hot Roman summer, he will be reborn again thanks to them. “Freedom in Italian” is a story about female friendship, the joy of life and the courage to be yourself.
