After the performance, we invite you to talk with the artist.

“Work Body” is a performance inspired by the poem “Le ceneri di

Gramsci” (“Ashes of Gramsci”), which Pier Paolo Pasolini dedicated to Antonio

Gramsci, co-founder of the Italian Communist Party, and at the same time

a person with a physical disability. Turinsky uses sensual and

“Work Body” find answer to general right-wing turn, steeped

Fantasies about masculinity.

Building, singing, speaking or dancing Turinsky undermines

separation between mental and physical work. It also tries to define what today

is a working class and looks at the role of labor in

the formation of identity. It goes beyond the categories of value creation

whether alienation and formulates a critical response to right-wing populism

increasingly present in the modern world.

“Work Body” creates space for resonances between the body

“Disabled” and “working”. This is how Turinsky puts in the center

of our attention those physicalities that are usually pushed to the sidelines

It's an evening on the border

performative intervention, concert and political agitation.

In the play, Turinsky refers to a poem by Pasolini. He talks about

physical labor and the human body. He wonders if we still share work

into two different types: physical labor (that is: the work we do with our

body) and mental work (which we do by thinking). Explores who people are today

working and how work affects who we are. The artist opposes

right-wing views, which often combine masculinity with power and domination.

“Work Body” is a combination of performance, concert and performance

It encourages reflection on work, disability, equality and

the place of different people in society.
