pl. Szczepański 3a, Kraków

At a time when war is becoming increasingly digital, art, music and cultural creativity are being drawn into the battlefield in ever new ways. In this interactive workshop with digital rights activist Brett Solomon, we will consider the role of art, music, image and propaganda in contemporary conflicts, and how they are transformed by platforms, algorithms, viral content and generative AI. We will look at how TikTok and other privatized platforms have become spaces of contention in the context of expression, and what happens when art, music and cultural archives are censored, manipulated, blocked or erased. However, the workshop will also offer to look at this situation from the other side. We will ask how art can defy the logic of digital warfare, preserve cultural memory, build solidarity and create spaces that are alternatives to conflict. Drawing on examples such as the Kiev Biennale in Warsaw

About the event

Drawing on examples such as the Kiev Biennale in Warsaw, attendees will consider how art, technology and music can help us imagine — and ultimately build — the Digital Room. This event is free, but you need to register. The form is available here.
