Space in film: what could be true and what remains fiction? - Interstellar film screening with expert commentary
We invite you to the screening of the film “Interstellar” as part of the World Space Week event — a space week organized by the Faculty of Space Technologies of the Academy of Science and Technology. The screening will be accompanied by expert commentary.
Does the vision of space shown in science fiction films have anything to do with reality?
Or is it completely different from her?
What is possible, and what remains exclusively film fiction?
During the event, we will look at the scientific aspects of the film, as well as issues related to rockets, space missions and technologies of the future.
Before the screening, participants will listen to a brief introduction by an expert who will suggest what scientific elements are worth paying attention to during the screening. After the video, we invite you to comment and encourage discussion. Together we will analyze the selected scenes and check which solutions presented in the film have a basis in modern science, which have been simplified, and which remain in the sphere of film fiction.
This meeting will be a great opportunity to look at “Interstellar” not only as a science fiction film, but also as a starting point for a conversation about modern science, technology and space exploration.
