The Wrocław Baroque Ensemble will perform on Saturday, October 24, at 18:00 in the Evangelical Church of the Virgin Mary with a concert in memory of the dead. The program referring to the celebration of All Saints will combine Polish, German and Italian Baroque music. The central point of the evening will be “Conductus funebris” by Grzegorz Gerwaz Gorczycki — one of the most outstanding works of the Polish Baroque. Tickets for PLN 30 can be purchased at Galeria Satyrykon (Rynek 36).
The concert program consists of three compositions related to the themes of memory, mourning and transcendence: “Stabat Mater” by Antonio Bononcini, “Conductus funebris” by Grzegorz Gerwaz Gorczycki and “Trauer-Ode” BWV 198 by Johann Sebastian Bach. The last two pieces were created to commemorate the Polish royal couple — Augustus II the Strong and Christiane Eberhardina. The concert will be conducted by the founder of the band, Andrzej Kosendiak. Founded in 2012 at the National Forum of Music Wrocław Baroque Ensemble specializes in historically informed performance, with a special focus on Polish Renaissance and Baroque music.
