We are all Belén

The play inspired by Ana Elena Correa's book “We are all Belén” is a story about a woman whose body has become evidence in a case, and about a system that has forgotten what empathy is.

It is a theater that raises questions about the limits of freedom, about the right to vote and about community. Correa's report, documenting the case of a young Argentine woman wrongly convicted of miscarriage, has become a symbol of the fight for safe and legal abortion in Latin America.

Director Katarzyna Minkowska announces that the performance will adopt the convention of a theatrical court hearing. The audience of the Jaracz Theater will become witnesses and participants of the events that shook the public opinion in Latin America. Nothing is obvious here — viewers not only observe, but become part of the stage process.

Because this story — even though it happened thousands of miles away — is still alive.

And it concerns all of us.

The director is Katarzyna Minkowska — one of the most interesting representatives of the young generation of Polish theatre creators. Her achievements have been appreciated many times. She received, among others, the Konrad Swinarski Award and the Golden Prologue 2024. Minkowska's performances are regularly hosted at the most important theater festivals in the country.

The audience of our Theatre has already had the opportunity to see her work — the play “When the Snow Melts”, which was awarded a standing ovation during the Olsztyn Theatre Meetings 2024. In 2025, the play directed by her — “Autumn” — opened the 30th Olsztyn Theatre Meetings.
