“Vanilla ice cream. Yellow color. Dreams of flying. Gifts you wanted to get and got, but didn't ask for. Falling in love. Vinyl records”.
Have you ever made a list of things that you enjoy? Small, unimportant, everyday, ordinary things, yet bringing a comforting smile and melancholy consolation? No? It's really worth a try.
Take the example of the Hero of the play “All the Best”. The hero meticulously draws up such a list all his life. First, he creates it for his lost, depressed mother. Then for yourself and your Beloved. Then again for myself, and in effect for us. The unconventional monodrama, which came out from under the pen of British authors: Dunckan Macmillan and Jonny Donahoe, is a story about noticing happiness in small things.
This text, translated and directed for the theatre by Piotr Złotorowicz, is a witty and distantly conducted story about the overwhelming influence of childhood on the formation of an adult human being. The power of the monodrama, whose main theme may seem exhausted and elaborated in millions of ways, is embedded in the text interactive activities with the audience. The protagonist, played by Piotr Urbaniak in the performance on Stage on Sarego 7, invites viewers to try to play important characters from his life. The ability to improvise, quick reflexes and the necessary sense of humor are the qualities that energize the performance, non-existent in full and in the sense without an audience.
The audience, seated in the beautiful, stylish space of the “Stuka Hall”, properly arranged for the needs of the performance by the scenographer Urszula Czernicka, are very close to the actor. The absence of any stage barriers creates, necessary for art, an atmosphere of intimacy and privacy. Classically jazzing and swinging music (music consultations by Artur Sędzielarz) and painting beautiful atmospheres of light (Marek Oleniacz) make “All the Best” a spectacle that brings a warm smile, reflections, tenderness and understanding for one's own weaknesses.
The millionth item on the Hero's list is: “listening to the record for the first time, turning it in your hands, putting it on a plate and putting a needle into it.” What we wish, adding a million first point: “Successful visits to the Theater”.
