In the process of making a certain film, the actor playing the main role in it leaves the film set and does not return to the pictures. The director (Andrzej Łapicki) organizes further work on the film, drives around Warsaw and its surroundings, meets in turn with his wife (Beata Tyszkiewicz), the actor's former partner (Elżbieta Czyżewska) and a friend (Daniel Olbrychski), trying to understand the reasons for the escape and at the same time find a way to finish the film. Increasingly lost and helpless, he feels an increasing alienation from the environmental coterie, social animosities and lies in which the members of the crew wallow. In the morning, information about the tragic death of the actor reaches the heroes. However, the film needs to be shot further.

About the event

Everything for sale is an autotematic story about the loss of a friend and a great actor. In this very personal film, for which Wajda wrote the original script for the first time, the director reflects on the phenomenon of Zbigniew Cybulski, portrays the native film environment and — for the only time in such a direct way — talks about himself. Wajda's alter ego was played by Andrzej Łapicki, and the other actors imbue their characters with their own experiences and character traits. Thanks to this, Everything for Sale becomes an intimate, but at the same time bravely shot, expressive and the most modernist in Wajda's career in response to the words he was supposed to say about the director shortly before Cybulski's death: “tell him that he will miss me again”.
