Taking pictures without a camera — how does that work? In addition to classic photography with a camera, there is also camera-free photo art. Photograms are created in the darkroom, using only an enlarger and photo paper. Objects are placed on photosensitive photo paper and exposed to light for a few seconds. If you like, you can bring along interesting objects from home. The development is the same as with a normal photo, but the result is completely wonderful and unexpectedly different.

In this workshop, we will try out everything about this unusual and magical technique that many famous photographers such as Marta Höpffner, Man Ray or László Moholy-Nagy have already used to create their visual masterpieces.

Laura Braun is a freelance photographer. She studied art and design at Central St Martins College and photography and sociology at Goldsmiths College in London. She works both editorially and commercially and her work can be seen in international exhibitions. In 2011, she founded the photo book publisher Paper Tigers Books.

Catherine Rose Evans is an Australian photographer and artist who has lived in Berlin since 2014. She works with photography, sculpture, installation and text and experiments with everyday and found materials. In doing so, she shows how even small changes to things — be it a stone, a word or a photo — create new ideas and meanings.
