Sound | Tomasz Misiak and Marcin Olejniczak (Radio Noise Duo) — “Static Memory”

The series of meetings with ambient and experimental music will feature Tomasz Misiak and Marcin Olejniczak. As Radio Noise Duo, they look for inspiration in the element of electricity, radio noise and amplified everyday objects. Their duo grew out of the Radio Noise Orchestra's ongoing initiative to enhance radio noise in various artistic activities.

Tomasz Misiak — philosopher, cultural scientist, art theorist, professor at the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of Arts in Poznań. Primary area of interest: sound studies, acoustic ecology, the presence of sound in contemporary art. In her research, combining philosophical and historical reflection, she reflects on those cultural contexts in which sound and the associated ways of listening play an important role. In his artistic activities, he tries to expose the aesthetic values of radio noise. He co-creates the Radio Noise Duo group and the ephemeral project Radio Noise Orchestra, as well as co-directs the publication Antenna Non Grata. Member of the Polish Electroacoustic Music Association.

Marcin Olejniczak — sociologist, cultural scientist and psychologist, currently a lecturer at the Academy of Applied Sciences in Konin. His current interests include issues related to the processes and consequences of mediatization of culture, popular culture and education in the age of the information society. He is currently fascinated by avant-garde, transgressive possibilities of using radio noise — he co-creates Radio Noise Duo and Antenna Non Grata. For several years he has also been exploring the sound potential of stones, gravel and sand. He cooperates with the CKiS Gallery, the Water Tower in Konin (since 2013 he has been the curator of the festival RESTYTUCJE). Member of the Polish Electroacoustic Music Association.
