During the lecture, the links of the poster with social and political changes — from the interwar twentieth anniversary to the present day will be discussed and presented. The most important stages of its development will be presented: from 19th century information and advertising functions to the phenomenon of the Polish Poster School and its heirs. Part of the lecture will focus on musical posters, including jazz, as an area linking graphic design with musical culture.

Aleksandra Fiałkowska — a graduate of, among others, the Institute of Art History of the University of Warsaw. Currently a doctoral student at the Doctoral School of Social Sciences of the University of Warsaw since 2023, she is a lecturer at the Open University of the University of Warsaw. In her research work, she deals with the problem of artistic freedom and censorship in art. She also conducts research on the Polish Poster School, its authors and heirs. She is the author of “Projekt JAZZ” columns in JazzPress magazine.
