About the event

On 16 October at 17:30 we invite you to an open popular science lecture on the fate of the “Polish Rangers”, which will be presented at the Visitor Service Center on Westerplatte by professional soldier and passionate about history Bartek Kwaśniewski.

Ranger battalions are elite units of light infantry and special forces of the US Army. The meeting will be devoted both to their history in 1942-1945 and to the fate of the sons of Polish emigrants who joined the ranks of the aforementioned battalions. Names such as Kwasnicki, Giełdoń, Sadowski, Karbowski or Gryniuk have forever been inscribed in the history of this formation, and to this day they are passed on to subsequent generations. Some of the “Polish Rangers” were even honored with a place in the famous Ranger Hall of Fame, or Hall of Fame, in Fort Benning, Georgia. This place is one of the pillars of the formation tradition and commemorates the achievements of the most outstanding American Rangers.

The fate of the “Polish Rangers” will be presented by Bartek Kwaśniewski, a professional soldier and passionate about history, one of only four representatives in Europe of the American association “WW2 Rangers & Descendants”, uniting former veterans of battalions from the Second World War period and members of their families. Thanks to his research and contacts with close Rangers-Americans of Polish origin, Bartek Kwaśniewski has managed to gather fascinating stories related to this little-known aspect of the history of the Second World War.

Admission is free!
