Do whales sing? Can they communicate with people? The last inhabitants of Kinnan must make a decision: to stay or leave their home island. Will they find an agreement and survive?
Fifteen-year-old Eilidh stares at the sea and dreams of a new life outside her lonely island. Myth and reality collide when the tide brings a mysterious stranger to her beach, thus changing Eilidh's life forever. The fairytale story touches on contemporary themes while maintaining intimacy with captivating Scottish music created live by the actresses.
Katarzyna Domalewska and Julia Witulska create many characters on stage, while weaving, building and arranging the story with their voices using loop technology, which creates a unique landscape for the ear and imagination.
The music is written by Finn Anderson and the original libretto of the musical “The Island” is Stewart Melton. The text was translated into Polish by Pola Sobaś-Mikołajczyk.
The show is performed under license:
