Photo exhibition “Rybnickie Kobiety III” | Ola Kubica

Rybnik has the face of women. A lot of faces, actually.

On 9 October, another edition of Ola Kubica's unique photographic project “Rybnickie Kobiety”. After the exhibitions at the Rybnik Land Theatre and the Ignacy Historic Mine, the project will tell for the third time about the women who make up our city. This time we will meet at the House of Culture in Rybnik-Boguszowice.

“Rybnik Women” is much more than a series of portraits. These are the stories of women active in business, culture, education, social activity and many other areas of life in Rybnik. Women widely known and those who, on a daily basis, work a little further from the spotlight, but with just as much commitment. Each portrait is a separate story of strength, passion, daily work and courage to act.

Behind the project is Ola Kubica, a photographer and portraitist from Rybnik, who has been professionally associated with photography for more than 20 years. She specializes in business, image and women's photography. In his work, he especially values naturalness, attentiveness to man and the atmosphere in which the photographed person can simply feel at ease. And it is precisely this attentiveness that can be seen in “Rybnicki Kobiety”, here it is not only about a good photo, but about the man and the story behind him.

The project started in 2023. Its first edition, comprising 26 portraits, was presented in March 2024 at the Zemi Rybnicka Theater. A year later, “Rybnickie Women II” could be seen in the Ignacy Historic Mine.

From the beginning, the project has a social and strongly local character. His idea is to see and show the women who make Rybnik every day. The ones that are on the front pages, and the ones that are far too little talked about.

Before us is “Rybnickie Women III”. New heroines. New portraits. New stories. The same city they co-create every day.
