“Silence in the Light” is a meeting of two artistic sensibilities, two generations and two different ways of working with photography. However, Ewa Bonisławska and Wojciech Balczewski are united by a special attention to light, emotions and what remains beyond the limits of words.
Ewa Bonisławska holds a Master of Arts, a graduate of Media Art and Visual Education at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, where she specialized in photography and multimedia. In his work, he experiments with the photographic form, exploring the relationship between the human body and space. She uses digital photography, using light, movement and detail to build images that balance between document and artistic creation.
Wojciech Balczewski has been involved in photography since the age of thirteen. Over the years he developed his activity as a photographer, instructor and teacher, co-creating, among others, the Włocława Photographic Society and the Baltic Photographic Society. He is a real member of the Photoclub of the Republic of Poland and the Union of Polish Photographic Artists. In his work, he devotes a special place to black and white photography and classical photographic techniques.
The exhibition brings together two different experiences: the tradition of analog photography and the contemporary possibilities of digital imaging. However, technological differences do not divide artists, but create a space for dialogue between the classical process of image formation and contemporary experimentation with form.
Light in the works presented becomes more than a technical element. It builds mood, brings out details, emphasizes forms and gives images an emotional dimension. Photographs capture moments while leaving room for the unspoken.
The eponymous silence is a space for concentration and reflection. It is the moment between movement and stop, between presence and its trace. “Silence in the Light” invites you to look carefully — at the body, space, light and emotions hidden between successive frames.
The exhibition by Ewa Bonisławska and Wojciech Balczewski shows that despite the differences in experience and way of working with the medium, photography can still be a common language. The language of light, emotion and silence.
